About the Ginger.

This is a pretty serious question that demands a serious answer. Cnidarian, why are you blogging? What got you started? What's your motivation?

I think Matthew 5:14-16 will help me explain my motivation: "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

I have realized over time that although I am a twenty-something fresh out of college, I can make an impression on the small bit of the world God has allowed me to experience with the story I have been blessed with living. When I started, I was a young adult eager to write about Jesus, so that's exactly what I did. With encouragement from family and friends, As Told by the Ginger was born.

As a graduate from a Christian liberal arts college who majored in environmental biology, I love looking at Creation to see how Christ works. I have also been wired to incorporate music into almost everything I talk about. I guess it could be explained through the fact that I am an ISFJ. I haven't the slightest idea. Regardless, it happens.

I really encourage community in this blog because that is what we are: a Body of believers with each intricate part keeping the other accountable and having worthwhile conversation about Scripture. Please, please, please talk to me! I feel lonely talking to a blank world. (JUST KIDDING)

But really though, I love telling my story. I've noticed it has become more of a sit-and-spin than a roller-coaster, but it's the story of my life with Christ, and I couldn't imagine it any other way.

Over time, I have collected many references from Scripture on how we are called to declare how great God is in our lives and tell our stories to others--TESTIFY!

  1. "My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long--though I know not how to relate them all." (Psalm 71:15)
  2. "Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done." (1 Chronicles 16:8)
  3. "Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples." (Psalm 96:3)
  4. "It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me." (Daniel 4:2)

I hope my crazy bouts of life are inspiring. Most of this is God-inspired, and I can't believe I wrote it most of the time. It's amazing what can come from letting Him take the reins.

God bless!
