Where's God when I'm s-s-s-s-scared?

This came to mind when I, believe it or not, thought about changing my cover photo on Facebook. Allow me to elaborate on my thought process because I'm one of those people whose minds can create connections with the strangest of things:

1. The picture to the left is my cover photo, courtesy of JCLU Forever;

2. Something smaller reminded me of "faith as small as a mustard seed," which reminded me of...

3. My note that I made on a verse that I had read a while back. What are we to do when we are afraid? God calls us to "be strong and VERY courageous," and there's always the commonly known verse: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:7; 1:9). Okay, it says to be strong and courageous, but what else is there? I don't think we are meant to hide under the covers because of Franken-Celery (yes, I made a connection to Veggie Tales). The following verse helps to expand on the idea of what to do in a scary situation:
"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong" (1 Corinthians 16:13; NIV).
This is a list: a multitude of advice, each different piece of advice separated by semicolons. Even though this list of advice was directed toward the Corinthians so many years ago, we as modern-day Christians need to take these advisements into consideration in our everyday lives:

Be on your guard: The devil WILL find ways to discourage us. He wants to turn us away from the narrow path that God has given us to follow. Satan uses the slightest bump in the road and exaggerates it, attempting to make us think that we cannot succeed in our walk with Christ. BREAKING NEWS!! If your faith is as small as a mustard seed, YOU CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS (Matt. 17:20)!

Stand firm in faith: As followers of Christ, we have chosen to make a life-changing decision, and that decision is to trust in God. We believe in God not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7), but by the faith that God will provide for us through all things. Because of our belief in Christ, we have Him as our foundation. If we were to build our house on sand, we would quickly wash away, but God is our ROCK (Matt. 7:24-26). We will not be moved, no matter what circumstances face us!

Be courageous: Our Heavenly Father is the Lord of ALL creation. He has the whole world in the palm of His hand. He has EVERYTHING under control, even if it doesn't feel like He is there. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 has no ifs, ands, or buts about it. God will follow us to the deepest trench in the ocean because He loves us!

Be strong: God is on our side. "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No matter who we are, no matter where we are in our lives, we have no need to fear because God is the Greatest of all things. As the picture reads, "When you make God bigger, your problems become smaller." There's also another common phrase: "Don't tell God how big your problems are. Tell your problems how big God is!" This is true: there is nothing God cannot handle, and that is a truth that can bring peace to a fearful heart.

God bless!

P.S. Remember the verse that follows: "Do everything in love" (1 Cor. 16:14). :)
